iCloud photos

I just changed laptops and now I'm confused.  I'm pretty certain that I was able to access my iCloud photos with FastRawViewer.  Now I can't find how.  I can see Dropbox photos and Creative Cloud Files, but no iCloud Drive.  I have created aliases in my laptop for each of my picture files in iCloud Drive.  FRV can't even see these aliases fodlers in my hardrive !
How do I access my iCloud photos with FRV please?  Thanks

Silvia

FastRawViewer uses 'local file API' to access files. If you have copy of your in-iCloud photos on you local drive, just point FRV to that folder.

Thanks, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying.  My photos are in iCloud Drive, I manually move them there, to access from different devices.     I can't point to this folder.   Moreover, I can't see the folder aliases (pointing to iCloud Drive folders), when I look at the folder (names Pictures) where these folder aliases are located.

I probably wasn't clear in my first message.   I don't see iCloud Drive when I open FRV.  See screen shot below.  Do I need to look for it elsewhere?  I've looked at other folders but still don't see it.

According to this blog post: https://onur.website/blog-en/icloud-drive-directory-location/

local copy of iCloud drive files is stored in ~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/ folder.

You may try to point FRV to this folder

If your files are not downloaded to 'local copy', FRV is unable to access them.

Thanks, but that's an old post.  I had followed already similar instructions but with Catalina, if you look at your Mobile Document folder in your Library you'll see the path shows that's located in hard drive.  Any attempt at clicking on it, just displays the iCloud Drive folder in hard drive.  By this I mean, there's no "com~apple~CloudDocs/".

I guess I won't be able to use FVR any longer.  I appreciate your help.  Thanks again.

I'm not iCloud user, but it is just 2 minutes to set-up:

 - enabled iCloud drive

  - dragged several RAW files to it, waited for upload

  - dragged some file from Finder/iCloud drive  to FastRawViewer icon.

1) FRV opens the file without problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ekjuy0kid4nsel/screenshot%202020-01-10%20at%2...

2) It is clearly visible in Grid view that folder name is /Users/lexa/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Documents/111 (I've dragged folder named '111' to iCloud Drive/Documents)

/Users/lexa is my mac 'home' folder.

I use macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Hope this helps.

OMG !  I missed the simplest way of adding the folder, that is, File > Open Folder.  That works and displays iCloud Drive on my sidebar.

Your steps work too, albeit only if copying and pasting the location address in FRV.
Unfortunately, only jpeg photos are visible.
Thank you so much for the time and effort to help me.

Oh well, I tried twice to upload screen shots to my original post, but I don't seem them displayed.

I just discovered FRV as I'm desperately trying to make sense of my 'workflow' (again) while dropping CC.  I'm moving my RAW library into iCloud with a local NAS backup.  I'm also consideirng using Lumina 4 since I've seen good results so far with its default 'Looks' so I waste less time noodling with every image.
I just worked through navigating to the local iCloud Drive cache in the Folder Tree and adding it to Favorites.  It didn't occur to me to use File->Open until seeing this thread and it is indeed a bit more straight forward.  File->Open will also display recognizable previews of each image when in 'Icons' view (I assume these are the previews generated by Quick Look in Finder).
Much appreciated!
