FRV 2.0: Make "As shot" a default and not "Camera auto"

Before 2.0, "As shot" always showed whenever working on an image.  Now, all images show "Camera auto" and I have to select "As shot."  As I only use one camera and want to view images as naturally as possible, I believe that "As shot" would be the appropriate default, but I'm having trouble setting it as the default.  Of course, if "Camera auto" would be equivalent to "As shot" when always using the same camera, then I'll accept "Camera auto."  Thanks.

Dear Sir:

Possibly, this answers your question:

Controlling which White Balance will be Used when Opening a File

When opening the next file the White Balance is set in accordance to the settings in Preferences– Image Display – White Balance:

  • White Balance for next file (same camera) – sets the white balance mode when opening a file coming from the same camera model as the current file is. Choices here are: Same as previous, As Shot, Daylight, Auto, Tungsten, and Camera Auto/As Shot. Last one is for the cases when As Shot WB was set manually and means ‘use Auto WB recorded by the camera, fallback to As Shot if no camera recorded Auto WB is found. This is very useful with UniWB, or forgetting to switch WB to a setting appropriate for the lighting conditions.
  • White Balance for next file (another camera) – sets the white balance mode when opening a file coming from a different camera model. The choice of “Same as previous” normally does not fit here – all other choices are the same as for the previous.
  • Keep Custom WB for next file (same camera) – instructs FastRawViewer if the current white balance coefficients should be applied to the next file coming from the same camera model.

(manual, page 129)

  • White Balance for next file (same camera) – sets the white balance mode when opening a file coming from the same camera model as the current file. Choices here are: o Same as previous – keep the current white balance choice.
  • o Camera Auto/As Shot – if the camera records the metered white balance (which may differ from that which is used during the shoot), then that balance is used. Otherwise, it will be As Shot.
  •
  • o All others – the respective white balance mode will be in effect.

I have read this portion of the manual several times before you gave me the link.  And that's my problem, as I find it very confusing. In Pref>WB> I have set both "White balance for next file (same)" and "White balance for next file (another)" to "As shot," and yet images don't opehn to "As shot"??? Could it be this is happening because I was shooting in manual? In any event, as I apparently don't understand the instructions, I'd appreciate a more detailed guidance on how to have "As shot" as the default. Thanks.

Dear Sir:

When "Auto WB" = "As Shot", the displayed name of the setting isn't relevant. When you say "I was shooting in manual", do you mean manual WB?

From this "When "Auto WB" = "As Shot", the displayed name of the setting isn't relevant," I assume you are saying that when I see Auto it will also mean As shot???
By "manual," I mean that I'm in manual mode: I have set the ISO and use S and A to control exposure.
Lastly, please help me to understand why when setting in Pref>WB> to As shot, As shot doesn't appear but Camera Auto does???
Thanks.

Yes, as those are only names.

By "manual," I mean that I'm in manual mode: I have set the ISO and use S and A to control exposure.

OK, that doesn't change things.

why when setting in Pref>WB> to As shot, As shot doesn't appear but Camera Auto does?

Well, because those are equal, we have no way to differentiate them by value. The name remains irrelevant to the effect of the setting.

OK, but how come, under the same conditions, am I used to seeing As Shot with 1.7 and not with 2.0? Have things changed?
Thanks.

Dear Sir:

Do you already have XMP files for those raw files? If you do, please upload a pair XMP+raw to a file exchange service (Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer are some of the free ones) and send the link to support@fastrawviewer.com
