Possible bug with .XMP case (1.5.0 1472)
Forums:
Hello,
I just found out a possible bug, here how I discovered.
- Imported images form a session on my MacBook Air and culled with FastRawViewer, starred 83 images out of 253.
- Saved the entire folder to an external disk and opened the folder from there on my Mac Mini (FastRawViewer 1.5.0 1472): I only get 21 images starred.
- Did some research and noticed that some of the .XMP files were saved in lower case and other in UPPER CASE.
- Quitted FastRawViewer
- Renamed all *.XMP to *.xmp
- Now I have the 83 ratings back
If you need any more clarification please let me know.
Thanks!

Dear Sir:
Dear Sir:
thank you for the problem report.
FastRawViewer always uses lower case (.xmp) file extension for both write and read of xmp sidecars.
In most cases, extension case does not matter, because not case-sensitive filesystems are used (always on WIndows and in most cases on Mac).
However, if you use case sensitive filesystem on your target computer (Mac Mini) *and* original xmp files
- either was initially created by some other software with upper-case extension (than re-used in FRV)
- or damaged during file transfer (e.g. external drive you use was formatted with FAT32 or exFAT partition)
Than problem you describe looks possible.
We'll try to reproduce such problem and provide some solution in future FRV updates.
