Scrolling Bounceback

Hello.
When I attempt to scroll down the thumbnails, the screen always bounces back to the topmost row of images when I release the mouse. I am running OS 10.14.3 on a Mac i7.

Dear Sir: if the screen is scrolled back while file sorting is performed (i.e. while metadata being read), this is expected behavior and it is controlled via Preferences - File Handling tab - Sorting and FIltering section - Scroll to selected image while filtering/metadata being read.
