Using the Check Mark to select a group of images

I like to make an initial pass of my photos and use the check mark to select the ones I want to keep. I can see no way of selecting all of the photos with a check mark. How do I do this? Thanks!

You can right-click on any selected ('checkmarked) file and use the context menu. Maybe this can help further:
