Program updates

I checked for updates in FastRawViewer and it says I am up to date, but I noticed on the site here it says 1.3.4 is released and I am running 1.3.3.  SHouldn't it have detected that the new release is available and then updated to it?  If the new version isn't detected through the program, can it be updated by downloading the new version then running the install and letting it update the existing version that is already installed?

"Note: This release is not yet available through update notifications. This is normal, we always wait 5 to 10 days before including new releases into automatic updates."
