Feature request: Custom selection crop tool
Forums:
Hello,
is there a way to add "Custom selection crop" feature or some kind of crop preview that could be applied on RAW file during culling? This would become very handy when checking composition of the photo. Right now, I have to switch to 3rd party program every time I need to check composition using crop feature.
For example, IrfanViewer has this very handy crop selection feature:
- applied custom selection can be adjusted or moved by using right mouse button and holding CTRL etc.

Hi rave-n,
Hi rave-n,
I recently shot with a high MP camera only to decide later how to frame the shot. And when culling with FRV and deciding which photos to keep or to mark for later editing I felt I needed help to anticpate the future crop. I did this by scaling the program window to mask unwanted / distracting parts of the picture. Which is (a) akward to do and (b) isn't memorized at a per shot basis. So when going back and forth to compare multiple "cropped" pics I had to roughly adjust the masking again for each shot.
In case XMP allows to store crop info it would be nice if FRV could show this crop as either completely hidden (as if the picture was literally a smaller size) or as visually masked (eg. darkened with adjustable percentage).

PS: Some may say "copping"
PS: Some may say "copping" isn't the task of a fast culling software. But my point is that especially with high MP pics it is just too slow to browse through a series using my photo editor. Of course with databased software like Lightroom this can be quick but I don't use LR but FRV and file system based organising instead,
