xmp of jpg not changed with raw+jpg

When I set File Formats => Handle RAW+JPG together, and then change the colour rating e.g., the XMP for JPG is left unchanged.
Also when no XMP exists, none is created for JPG with Handle RAW+JPG together enabled.
I set the format to Filename.Ext.xmp and disabled XMP blocks to JPG.
Running 2.0.8 on a Mac.
